Named Best New Play Incubator by Atlanta Magazine in 2018, Essential Theatre has given Georgia playwrights a voice for the past twenty-one years, producing 30+ World Premieres and helping launch the careers of nation-wide successes like Topher Payne and Lauren Gunderson. The 2019 Essential Theatre Play Festival premieres the work of two brand-new talents: Emily McClain’s Slaying Holofernes and Ben Thorpe’s Babyshower for the Antichrist. The Festival runs July 26 – August 25.
