Southern Fried Bake-Off – Back For Seconds!

The Southern Fried Bake-Off returns January 3 and 4, 2025 to start your year off right by having fun with folks from across our community, doing what we do best: making theater together.

New year, new home
Last year’s Bake-Off at CORE in Decatur was a hit. We literally had standing room only by showtime! So this year we’re thrilled to announce our move to a bigger venue: go ahead and block off Saturday evening January 4 and come spend it with us and this year’s producing partner, 7Stages!

New look, same great taste
As with our first Bake-Off last January, the 2025 Southern Fried Bake-Off will be an exhilarating 24 hours where participants write, rehearse, and perform brand new plays based on a Bake-Off theme and a list of “ingredients.” Using the Paula Vogel Bake Off model, a group of playwrights will come together on the evening of January 3 and write individual plays that are inspired from a central piece of art/theme and list of “ingredients” that must be present in their plays in some way. Pieces are written and produced in a workshop-production style within 24 hours, to be performed in front of a live audience at 7pm on Saturday January 4!

A heaping helping
We had a blast at last year’s Bake-Off, but we’re upping the ante this year with some fun new surprises for our audiences — Bake-Off Bingo, anyone?

Y’all come play!

Tickets for the Saturday 7pm showcase are now available!
